Ahead of Celebrity Silhouette’s long-awaited return to UK shores this summer, Celebrity Cruises today revealed how a combination of vaccination, testing and an innovative app will keep crew and guests safe at sea. In addition, the Celebrity Cruises app enables guests to focus on enjoying their holiday, offering all the functionality required for a seamless onboard experience. Guests can plan their holiday all from the touch of a button through their smartphone, from a local experience on shore to a delicious meal developed by Michelin-starred chefs.
BOARDING AND SAILING PROTOCOLS
Celebrity Silhouette will depart Southampton on her first sailing on 3rd July taking in the beauty of the British Isles with a fully vaccinated crew and guests (aged 18 and over). Vaccinated guests will also require proof of a negative PCR test taken 24 – 72 hours before the time of sailing. Guests aged 3-17 will need to take an antigen test at the terminal prior to embarkation. The PCR and antigen tests required will be provided at the expense of Celebrity Cruises.
In order to get guests onboard as quickly and safely as possible to start their much anticipated holiday, all arrivals and departures will be staggered by appointment and guests will have the opportunity to select their preferred check in times. These measures will provide guests with a speedier boarding process in a rigorously sanitised and socially distanced environment.
In addition, all guests, aged 11 and over, will be required to wear an appropriate face covering in the Terminal and inside venues onboard the ship, in line with UK government requirements. On the outer decks, inside their staterooms or whilst dining onboard, guests are not required to wear a face covering.
SEAMLESS ONBOARD EXPERIENCE DRIVEN BY THE APP
Once onboard, the Celebrity Cruises’ digitally advanced mobile app will transform the important safety drill into a faster, more personal approach that guests can complete from the ultimate comfort of their own luxury stateroom.
Dubbed Muster 2.0, key elements of the drill, including where to go in case of an emergency and instructions on how to properly use a life jacket, will be accessible to guests via their mobile devices and interactive stateroom TVs.
Once the all-important Muster 2.0 has been completed, guests can then turn their attention to making the most of the incredible experiences onboard, all organised from their smartphone:
● Expedited boarding – by completing check-in with the app, scanning passport information and uploading a ‘selfie’ security photo, guests can generate a mobile boarding pass and qualify for an expedited boarding process.
● Digital key – the days of frantically patting pockets to find stateroom keys are over. In just a few taps, holidaymakers can download a digital key and access their beautifully designed stateroom.
● Daily planning – unique dining experiences and visits to British ports of call can be viewed and reserved from the palm of guests’ hands.
Alongside the app, holidaymakers can rest assured that the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems on Celebrity Cruises ships continuously supply 100% fresh, filtered ocean air.
DISCOVERING THE BRITISH ISLES
Celebrity Cruises has developed a rich selection of curated shore excursions, working with local tour operators to ensure that they are not only enriching and inspiring, but also that they follow local government health protocols. It is anticipated that guests will be permitted to debark Celebrity Silhouette and explore independently in ports of call where there are no restrictions put in place by port authorities or local government.
PEACE OF MIND POLICIES
Celebrity Cruises, part of Royal Caribbean Group, has launched a COVID policy to ensure peace of mind should guests, or anyone in their travelling group, receive a positive COVID test prior to or during their holiday.
Under the policy, a full refund will be given to any guest who tests positive within two weeks of their sail date, including at the pier, as well as any members of their immediate travelling party who have been in close contact with them.
With Celebrity’s Cruise with Confidence policy, guests who have booked before 31 July 2021 can cancel for any reason up to 48 hours before departure on sailings through to 4 May 2022 and receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit.
