Associated British Ports is to open a new next-generation-ready, open access cruise terminal for the imminent 2021 season in popular no fly cruises port, Southampton, the NoFlyCruises team has learned.

This will be the fifth dedicated cruise terminal at Southampton and will benefit from sustainable features, including roof-mounted solar power and Shore Power connectivity. This further commitment to sustainable operations at the port will enable cruise ships with hybrid and electric technology to literally ‘plug in’ while they are berthed at the port.

This investment, of more than £55 million, into the long-term future of cruise will strengthen the Port of Southampton’s position as Europe’s leading cruise turn-around port and the UK’s number one departure port. It is also a very good sign for the future of no fly cruising from the UK and Southampton, in particular.

In strategic partnership with MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, the Port’s new terminal will support a developing industry welcoming the next generation of more sustainable ships.
